In my opinion, this one is a masterpiece. I was probably only about 7 when this one was created, and I remember that this was the first painting I saw of Dad's where I remember thinking to myself for the first time, "my Dad is really good."
I simply couldn't believe this was painted. The texture of his chin, the whispy hair, the fabric of his coat, the shadows, his forehead...it was all just too hard for me to comprehend, and so it was this painting that first made me realize that Dad's talent was special, if not even freakish.
I'll always remember this as the one that opened my eyes to the uniqueness of Dad's gift.
